Blow dry your hair the direction you want the hair to fall.
In order for the ponytail to lie perfectly, blow dry your hair from the root straight back. This will also reduce the chances of creating bumps in your ponytail as well. Tilt your head back for a tighter hold.
When pulling hair into a ponytail you should tilt your head back a bit. This helps to create a tighter hold and keeps the hair underneath from slipping out.
Make sure your rubber bands are strong.
Strong rubber bands are also the key to keeping your ponytail from becoming loose.
