perfect ponytailThe signs of a perfect ponytail are tons of compliments, and an internal feeling of confidence that radiates through a woman’s smile.

Ponytails aren’t just a way to keep hair out of your face, they’re a fashion statement that never goes out of fashion. When worn the right way, they can make you look chic and sleek.

Plus, they can be worn yearlong and still appear trendy!

However, a ponytail worn the wrong way has a tendency to make you look unkempt and disheveled, and shouldn’t be confused for a purposely fashioned “messy” ponytail, which is strategically designed to look wild, adventurous and chic.

If you want the perfect ponytail, follow the four steps outline below.

4 Easy Steps to Styling the Perfect Ponytail

  1. Blow dry your hair the direction you want the hair to fall.
In order for the ponytail to lie perfectly, blow dry your hair from the root straight back. This will also reduce the chances of creating bumps in your ponytail as well. Richard Ashforth, the international creative director at Saco Hair Salon in London suggests that before you blow dry your hair, spray your hair with warm water that has two to three teaspoons of salt dissolved in it to help tame stray hairs, check out his video tutorial.
  2. Tilt your head back for a tighter hold.
When pulling hair into a ponytail you should tilt your head back a bit. This helps to create a tighter hold and keeps the hair underneath from slipping out.
  3. Make sure your rubber bands are strong.
Strong rubber bands are also the key to keeping your ponytail from becoming loose. A fairly new product that is being used by experts in the beauty industry are hair ties called Hair Bungee, a simple piece of elastic that has hooks on both ends (if you don’t have these, the video tutorial will show you how to make your own at home).
  4. Be confident about your do.
Enjoy your ponytail and be confident about your up-do creation. Be carefree and have a blast.
