A cultivar of the squash plant, pumpkins seeds and its guts are a good source of zinc.

Zinc helps to promote healthy hair growth, and it works wonders on skin and nails. Plus, it is also known to prevent hair loss.

Pumpkin seeds also contain vitamin E, which help to reduce inflammation to the scalp, repairs damage to the follicles and promotes hair growth.

DIY Pumpkin Spice—and everything nice—Hair Mask

I you want to make this yummy pumpkin hair mask, all you’ll need is raw pumpkin guts and a dash of cinnamon to add aroma to your lovely tresses!

  • Scoop out a handful of pumpkin guts and keep the seeds.
  • Using a mortar and pestle, or a blender, ground the pumpkin guts into a semi-thick puree.
  • Slather the mask onto wet hair and let it soak through your luscious locks for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
  • Proceed by shampooing your hair to remove any leftover puree, then style as desired.

If you want to get fancy, then add in cinnamon, raw honey, nutmeg oil, coconut oil or hemp seed oil to give the mixture a better consistency with other nutrient-rich ingredients.

You are not limited to just adding pumpkin to your mask, feel free to add in any other hearty fruit or vegetable you think could benefit your hair type.

In fact, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, hair masks made from fruits and vegetables are great spreads for your hair.

If you have any puree left over, make sure to spread it evenly over your face, pumpkins also make for great face masks.
