Green Hair: An epic fail or a go-ahead?

green hair coloristsOK, let’s take a moment to talk about green hair please because somebody’s gotta.

I’m going to say it, green hair is not for everyone and you better be darn sure it’s a decision you’re willing to make before you go ahead and do it.

There’s no denying that sporting green hair is a bold move. But, if the shade of green isn’t suited to your skin tone or the color of your eyes, then you’re going to look like a lime in a bowl full of lemons, and that’s pretty sour.

Finding the perfect shade of green can be tricky, almost like finding that perfect shade of red lipstick.

In fact, who really has the time or energy to spend hours performing Google searches on green hair or pinning the right looks on Pinterest?

That’s why I created the lemon-lime hair inspiration board!

The LuvlyLongLocks inspiration boards are also meant to offer ideas for makeup and nails to help bring each look full circle, and boy are people creative.

I’ll be honest, I’m not drawn to the colors yellow or green but there’s an option for margarita nail art and bursts of lemon-lime lip colors on the lemon-lime inspiration board that kinda make me want to do it.

It’s honestly worth checking out even if you’re not planning on dyeing your hair a shade of citrusy delight.

Sifting through photos on Instagram gives me the type of giddy feeling that one would get if exploring Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory—and it’s one of pure bliss.

As a matter of fact, I’m always super impressed when I come across green shades of hair because, 1) it’s not easy to achieve and 2) it’s not always a color that most people gravitate toward.

However, I’ve found three color experts on Instagram that have mixed the best shades of margarita green that I’ve ever seen and just had to share.

Instagram’s Best Green Hair Colorists

hair coloristCrystal or @cryistalchaos as she’s known on Instagram is a hairstylist and colorist in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Her mixture of dark and light green is simply art. Every stylist needs inspiration and is guided by a vision, and it’s clear the inspiration behind this look was a soda can of mountain dew, and the waves that she’s styled look almost like water streaming down a rapid river. Can we say brilliant?!

Musa Salon and SpaHairstylist and colorist Daniel Mason Jones works at Muse Salon and Spa in Johns Creek, Georgia. His blending of lime green into what looks like jet-black hair is just classy, even that sleek-straight, side-tucked ponytail screams class. Daniel’s IG page showcases his color and styling talents on both men and women. He’s totally the real deal!

Manitoba salonThen there is Katie from Winnipeg, Manitoba (on Instagram as @hairbykatiek), and she also knows how to color hair really well. Her IG page has some of the loveliest hues of green and blue that I’ve seen thus far. I love her light green colored hair mixed with sky blue highlights, and the tips are almost yellow with hints of grey. It’s a very subtle green that isn’t shocking to the eyes.

Be sure to check out these three experts’ pages and tag @LuvlyLongLocks on Instagram if you know someone who’s rocking green hair or whipping it up that meringue in the salon so that their photo can be added to the lemon-lime hair inspiration board.
